When larger companies find they have a lucrative customer base to fill their coffers, they often forget about the smaller markets that don’t meet their margin requirements. These customers (often in rural regions), make up a fairly large customer base when strung together. Finding and mobilizing these customers is a sure way to profit for those companies that have the wherewithal to complete the legwork.
IVI Communications Inc., a development stage communications company, intends to acquire, develop and run internet service providers (ISP’s) in tier three internet markets. Generally, the company is working to consolidate underserved internet markets to gain buying power in regions where larger broadband companies and telecommunications companies find little incentive to offer services. Additionally, the company is a provider of turnkey wireless networks and has recently signed agreements to work with a directed software information provider.
As a base of operations, the company currently owns three subsidiaries:
Internet Business Consulting Inc. (IBC), Futura Inc., and Appstate.net Inc.
IBC Inc. has the personnel in place to install, develop and service custom wireless networks, Futura Inc. is a leading installer of fixed wireless links, and Appstate.net Inc. is an ISP servicing the town of Boone NC and Appalachian State University.
From an overall perspective, the company is working to collect those ISP’s that are lagging in the conversion to broadband services. Once it has acquired a sufficient number in a particular region, it hopes that it can convert the ISP’s dial-up customers into broadband service customers. In all likelihood this conversion will take place at some future time, as technology, current telecommunication trends (redlining rural phone customers), and wireless communications are developed to their fullest potential. As this occurs, the company will in all likelihood become a leading provider of broadband wireless services in many distinct regions around the country.
The company, however, is not standing on this premise alone. It has recognized the natural evolution of consumer internet use. As a politician once remarked “all politics are local”. So, too, is internet use becoming more local. The company has taken these aspects to heart and has partnered with a company named ADZILLA. This company is working on software that better identifies local internet advertising needs in a local region. Advertisers will be able to better target these customers and make use of the company’s services as the program comes online. In many instances, it is the smaller companies that make the leaps forward in a marketplace that appears to have found a stable footing. Being on board right from the start can be an exceedingly profitable venture, as all the highs and lows of a fledgling concern lead to great rewards.
