Intelligentias, Inc. (ITLI.OB) Joins European Competitive Telecommunications Association (ECTA)

In what should prove to be a very smart move, Intelligentias recently became the newest member of the European Competitive Telecommunications Association (ECTA). The function of the ECTA is to act as a liaison between leading telecommunications service providers and their respective regulatory committees.

In an age of rapidly expanding standards, in one of the world’s fastest growing industries, European corporations are subject to increasingly stringent governmental policies. In 2006, the European Union adopted what is referred to as, the “Data Retention Directive”, which adds heavily to telecommunications service providers’ laundry-list of compliance procedures.

ETCA Chairman Innocenzo Genna commented, “The European Union’s adoption in 2006 of the Data Retention Directive places a considerable extra burden on telecommunications service providers and we are delighted that Intelligentias has joined our association to be able to bring their expertise into our community and potentially support ECTA members in this complex area.”

Intelligentias CEO Ian Rice also went on record regarding the matter-at-hand, “Europe is ahead of the rest of the world in acknowledging the value of call data records and IP data records to law enforcement, but mandates for data retention must be fair and must not adversely impact emerging telecommunications providers challenging incumbents.” Mr. Rice also expressed his company’s enthusiasm for joining forces with the ECTA.

Intelligentias, Inc. is widely recognized as the world’s first provider of data-retention solutions for the communications industry, offering its patented Retentia platform to service providers in a scalable, cost-effective manner.
