Yesterday, Infrax Systems, Inc. announced that they will officially launch their proprietary Secure Network Interface Card (SNIC) at DistribuTECH 2011, February 1, in San Diego, California.
DistribuTECH is the utility industry’s leading smart grid conference and exposition, covering automation and control systems, energy efficiency, demand response, renewable energy integration, advanced metering, T&D system operation and reliability, power delivery equipment, and water utility technology.
The universal host interface board houses two wireless modules. One is for the home area networking and the other is for wide area networking. The WAN module uses a standards based communication protocol that is extremely reliable and deterministic in nature. The smart meter card will be the first of several products under development, as part of the Company’s Secure Intelligent Energy Platform (SIEP).
Mr. Paul J. Aiello, CEO of Infrax Systems, Inc., said, “The proprietary Secure Network Interface Card (SNIC) addresses the Advanced Metering Infrastructure requirements of the electric utilities worldwide by providing secure two way communications between the meter and the control center of the energy company. Although the initial launch addresses the US market, the basic design can easily be modified to meet the requirements of any electric utility anywhere on the globe.”
Mr. Aiello concluded, “The military grade encryption based on trusted platform module and patented authentication mechanism provides one of the highest levels of security available today in this space.”
Smart Grid solutions and proprietary technologies exclusively launched by Infrax Systems, Inc. at this industry recognized show and conference, will be demonstrated at the Company’s booth #547.
Headquartered in Pinellas Park, Florida, Infrax Systems, Inc. is a global provider of unified Smart Grid-related products and services for the Energy and Utility industries. The Company offers a series of interrelated operational management, communications, and grid security related products and services known as Secure Intelligent Energy Platform (SIEP).
Their products enable a comprehensive and unified solution for communications and applications management of the Smart Grid. SIEP™ incorporates a broad spectrum of communications, security, device and data management tools for Smart Grid applications including advanced metering solutions and grid optimization.
SIEP platform creates a unified solution to manage securely Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) and distribution automation. Infrax Systems, Inc.’s secure smart grid platform incorporates a communications transport and management system, (Grid Mesh™), device and data security management, and ultimately secures intelligent endpoint devices (SIED).
The secure management of the “last mile” backhaul will be necessary for utilities to implement Smart Grid applications. These include AMI, real-time pricing, Demand Side Management (DSM), Distribution Monitoring and Automation. These applications, when combined, can offer economic, operational, and environmental benefits for utilities, and ultimately the utility’s customers.
