In this age of ever-increasing oil prices, Hybrid Technologies (HYBR.OB) recognizes that consumers are looking toward alternative methods of transportation and is focused on meeting the demand in this growing industry.
The media has vaulted alternative powered vehicles into the limelight. The major manufacturers have created flexible-fuel hybrids that use both fuel and electricity. David Friedman, research director at the Union for Concerned Scientists, was quoted that auto manufacturers “have been dragged kicking and screaming toward producing more fuel efficient products.”
Hybrid Technologies has a different focus. The company, founded eight years ago, has developed a line of fully-electric powered vehicles. The vehicles use rechargeable lithium batteries, whose technology was originally developed for use in the NASA space program. The lithium-powered vehicles can travel more than 120 miles on a single charge with no emissions. The vehicles are able to accelerate from 0 to 60 in a few seconds and can reach speeds of up to 80 mph.
In August 2007, Hybrid Technologies announced the development of its next generation rapid charger system. The advanced charger system has the capability to recharge a 35-40kWh system in less than four hours. This is a 65 percent faster rate than other chargers on the market today. This technology provides Hybrid with a distinct competitive advantage in the alternative vehicle market.
Hybrid’s vehicles run virtually silent and are maintenance free. No need for oil changes every three months. No need to change filters or schedule tune-ups. There is also no engine, transmission, spark plugs, fuel tank, starter, clutch, or muffler to worry about. The battery powered vehicles have less than 10 percent of the parts that a typical gas powered vehicle requires.
Providing a quiet, emission-free, maintenance-free vehicle with the capability to take a consumer to and from targeted destinations is a niche that Hybrid Technologies is prepared to fulfill.
