As summer comes to an end, consumers continue to juggle their budgets to deal with rising fuel costs. With no relief in sight, commuters are looking towards other options, but public transportation, walking, and riding a bicycle can only take a person so far. This week, viewers were able to see the advantages of the Hybrid Technologies, Inc. (HYBR.OB) LiV™ series of all-electric vehicles on NBC’s “The Today Show”.
Hybrid selected three distinct samples from its LiV™ line for the morning program. Chris Balish, a seven-time Emmy Award winning broadcast journalist, led Matt Lauer through the demonstration. The vehicles highlighted on the show were a custom-made motorcycle named the RYDER, a high-end sport car named the RUSH, and an affordable city-commuter vehicle named the WISE. Consumers were able to see that these Hybrid all-electric vehicles are stylish as well as environmentally-friendly.
Studies indicate that consumers spend about $3700 each year in fuel costs. If consumers choose to switch over to a Hybrid all-electric powered vehicle, the electricity costs to charge the lithium-ion batteries are estimated at $275 per year. The result of a switch to an all-electric vehicle is a savings of around $3500 per year or $17,500 over a 5-year period. With gas reaching just over $4 per gallon and continuing to rise, the savings could be even more.
