IntelliHome, Inc. has been working to make its presence known in the residential and commercial automation applications market since its inception in 2000. The company has made progress in the residential marketplace with an aggressive home builder program. IntelliHome, Inc, however, faces short term hurdles as new and existing home sales work through slower sales issues. Commercial applications appear to be a positive segment of the market for IntelliHome, Inc. given a strong sales force with ties to potentially larger commercial accounts.
The potential for an offsetting of the new/existing homes slowdown could be found in the pending lead-up to HD television signal change in 2009. Currently, the penetration of HD televisions is fairly low. Larger HD televisions generally indicate a higher income level and potential add on sales of automation systems designed for home theaters, central vacuum systems and security systems. The company’s current penetration with home builders and several media outlets, working to promote HD and automation, puts IntelliHome, Inc. in a positive position.
The company is currently working to strengthen the internal controls required to meet an expanding security monitoring system, which promises to offer stable income as it matures. Much like cellular telephone companies, the company operates on a three year contract basis with security monitoring customers. IntelliHome, Inc. expects a solid contribution from this part of the company as it becomes more mature.
