In an effort to quell the massive uproars in the nation’s beleaguered housing market, Washington announced on Wednesday that it would be kicking off a mortgage aid program to help in reducing the ever-growing numbers of foreclosures. Under the new program, homeowners who spend greater than thirty-one percent of their income on mortgage payments will be eligible to exchange their existing mortgage loans for more affordable ones.
