Hammonds Industries, Inc. (HMDI.OB) Files New Patent Application For On-Board Injector

Hammonds Industries President Carl Hammonds has filed a patent for a technology that allows diesel engine operators to inject fuel additives while simultaneously filling up with gas. This, in turn, allows diesel vehicles to run on a custom blend, with additives known to improve fuel efficiency by 10 to 15 percent. If he receives a patent, Mr. Hammonds will assign exclusive domestic and international rights to the new invention — what he’s calling an On-Board Injector — to the company.

It would be one of 26 U.S. and foreign patents assigned to Hammond Industries (HMDI) for blending and injecting fuel additives, as well as blending water treatment chemicals, fuel handling and bio-diesel blending products.

The On-Board Injector system can make additive inclusion easier and more practical by dispensing the additives evenly from a locked reservoir, proportionate to the flow of fuel. It would sell for about $1,000, with all necessary fittings and hardware. “The system requires no pumps, electronics, meters, or external power from the vehicle and is simple to install on existing fuel tanks,” a company news release states.

“Our system provides quick pay-back for long-haul truckers, railroads, drilling rigs, boats and other applications where high quantities of diesel are consumed,” Mr. Hammonds said. “The economics are very compelling.”

Hammonds has made its name providing military aviation fuel additive systems and has designed and manufactured specialized products, primarily for government, aviation and military customers for 26 years. That includes the Omni Directional Vehicle, used by Boeing and the U.S. Army.
