GelTech Solutions Inc. (GLTC.OB) was formed to develop, market, and sell products that are based on a particular polymer that can absorb hundreds of times its weight in water. This early-stage synthetics company currently markets and sells two polymer-based products, RootGel and FireIce.
GelTech’s first product is RootGel, a moisture preservation solution that has applications in various industries. RootGel comes in both sprayable and granular forms and can be used to help grow crops in drought-stricken areas. It also has applications in industries such as forestry, landscaping, and horticulture.
GelTech’s second product is FireIce, a fire suppression product. FireIce is a dry powder that is added to water. Within seconds of being mixed, FireIce is ready to use and turns into a fire preventing, heat absorbing, fire suppressing gel.
GelTech also intends to sell two additional products in the near future. One of these, known as IceWear, is a garment line that cools the body temperature of the person wearing it. Hazmat teams, firefighters, military personnel, racecar drivers, and others who are subject to intense heat can use IceWear as a cooling vest.
GelTech’s second future product is a hurricane suppression project named WeatherTech. Early laboratory tests have shown that it is effective in causing a modest reduction in hurricane wind speeds. GelTech currently has patents and patent applications for all of its products.
