Despite an outpouring of complaints from their respective constituencies, lawmakers’ confidence in the progress of talks over the proposed bailout plan seems to be growing this Thursday. Even Senator Chris Dodd of Connecticut, who vehemently opposed the bill during early negotiations stated: “We are very confident that we can act expeditiously.” Bipartisan agreement is very close to being reached, as congressmen expect to have a solidly revised plan to present to the administration within the next few days. This has led to the wide belief that a vote on the issue is very close at hand.
