EVCARCO, Inc. (pronounced “E-V-car- co) announced today that they have been recently featured on several major news networks showcasing their new products. The media coverage was a result of a highly successful media launch in New York City. The exposure included the likes of the Wall Street Journal and Fox News who were part of a media strategy for EVCARCO to release its business model to the public.
With Fox, the Tezzari “Zero” was first featured in a discussion between Gary Gastelu of Fox Car Report and Dale Long, CEO of EVCARCO, Inc. EVCARCO is the official United States distributor of the Tezzari. The Zero is an all-electric, aluminum frame, two-seater that is made in Italy with a range of up to 90 miles on a single charge. It will recharge through a standard outlet (either 110 or 220 volt) in six to eight hours. The Zero is not yet cleared for highway driving, as it is awaiting an air-bag system and crash testing. It is classified as a “medium speed vehicle” because it does have the capacity of doing 65 miles per hour, but it will remain governed until all proper testing is completed and approved by U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) authorities. EVCARCO is anticipating the approval in late summer of 2010. Amazingly, the Zero, which is built with similar concepts to the “Smart Car” for safety, weighs only around 1,200 pounds.
Mr. Long also discussed that the Zero is not the only electric car in their lineup that is ready for the street. EVCARCO has recently signed distribution agreements for the “EnVision” line of electric cars which are highway speed vehicles that has already received DOT approval. This series is larger, including a 7-passenger SUV, a lightweight pickup truck and a cargo van. The EnVision line, which can accelerate to speeds in excess of 75 miles per hour, is capable of going over 200 miles on a single charge and will be available, before any discounts, rebates or government incentives, for under $37,000. According to Mr. Long, these cars will be available in late May or early June this year. Mr. Long was clear in stating that once DOT testing is complete, as with the EnVision, the cars are highway legal in all 50 states.
Tezzari, according to Mr. Long, is anticipating sending 6,000 or more of their electric vehicles per month to the United States as far as projected sales. Still a small fraction of overall car sales in the United States, and at those levels the Tezzari can be mass-produced and take a nice chunk of the electric car market share.
In the press release, Scott O’Neal, COO of EVCARCO, was quoted as saying, “Our expectations were high for our team in New York and we were pleased to see that our message is reaching such a prestigious audience. Comments from the Wall Street Journal such as, ‘It looks like finally there is a company that will deliver Electric cars to the American population, Way to go EVCARCO,’ are right on target with our corporate vision. We are certainly at the right place, at the right time, with the right solution.”
Also pursuing business with the U.S. government, EVCARCO has sent its executives and directors to Florida for meetings to discuss the implementation of EV’s into Federal Fleets.
