Encision Inc. (ECIA.OB) Enters into Purchasing Agreement with HealthTrust Purchasing Group, LP

Yesterday, Encision Inc. announced that they entered into a purchasing agreement with HealthTrust Purchasing Group, LP, effective June 1, 2010. The products designated in the agreement are “Laparoscopic Safety Instruments – Active Electrode Monitoring Laparoscopy”.

Headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee, HealthTrust Purchasing Group is a group purchasing organization. The Company supports almost 1,400 not-for-profit and for-profit acute care facilities. They also support ambulatory surgery centers, physician practices, and alternate care sites.

HealthTrust Purchasing Group has an annual purchasing volume by their members of more than $17 billion. Their commitment is to obtaining the best price for clinically recommended products, ensuring their timely delivery, and continuously evaluating and improving their services to the patients, physicians, and clinicians that the Company serves.

“We are pleased to have contractual access to HealthTrust member facilities. These facilities enjoy a reputation for their high contract compliance,” said Jack Serino, President and CEO of Encision Inc.

Headquartered in Boulder, Colorado, Encision Inc. designs, develops, manufactures, and markets innovative surgical devices. These devices enable surgeons to optimize technique and patient safety during a wide variety of surgical procedures. The Company pioneered the development of patented active electrode monitoring (AEM®) Laparoscopic Instruments to improve electrosurgery and reduce the chance for patient injury in minimally invasive surgery.

Encision Inc.’s patented AEM® surgical instruments provide a solution to a well-documented patient safety risk during minimally invasive surgery. AEM® instruments provide surgeons with the desired tissue effects. They are the only instruments that incorporate a “shielded and monitored” design to prevent the risk of stray energy burn injury from insulation failure and capacitive coupling.
The AEM® product line includes all of the standard shapes, sizes and functionality as conventional instruments. In addition, they feature patented “shielding and monitoring” technology integrated into the design.

Conventional instruments are a conductive element with a layer of insulation coating. AEM® Laparoscopic Instruments have a unique layered design with a protective shield that provides a neutral return path for capacitively coupled energy and protection from insulation failure. The integrity of the instrument undergoes continuous monitoring during surgery. In fact, the technology acts very similar to a third-wire ground in standard electrical cords.
