Red Giant Entertainment, an innovative Intellectual Property company specializing in intellectual property development and content for use in a variety of entertainment, announced that well-known comic book writer and actress, Elaine Lee, has signed on to script superhero and spy thriller, Duel Identity for the company’s Giant-Size Fantasy series.
Duel Identity follows the fantastic adventures of world-famous super heroine Andromeda, who by nightfall leads an intriguing and secret life as the lethal superspy Artemis. Given life by Red Giant CEO Benny Powell, the high-concept property is set to appear as a lead feature in Giant-Size Fantasy, one of the monthly titles comprising Red Giant’s advertising-supported and free comic book movement.
Lee, who received an Emmy Award nomination for her talents as an actress on the NBC-TV drama The Doctors, is a creator with over 30 years of experience in the comic book industry. Her sci-fi saga Starstruck came to life in 1982 as an off-Broadway stage play, which was not only written by Lee but starred her as well. Teaming up with brilliant illustrator Michael Kaluta (The Shadow), the two sparked Starstruck into a remarkable series of comic stories and graphic novels published by Marvel Comics’ Epic imprint, Heavy Metal magazine, Dark Horse, and IDW.
In addition, Lee was the creator of DC Comics’ horror series Vamps, helped guide the comic book adventures of George Lucas’ Indiana Jones for Dark Horse and wrote Prince Valiant and Clive Barker’s Saint Sinner for Marvel, among other projects. Outside of her passion for comics, Lee has put her pen to animation projects for companies such as Hallmark Entertainment, written video games and directed motion capture. Additionally, Lee brought comics to auditory life as both a writer and producer for AudioComics, a company that produces full-cast “audio movies” based on genre fiction and comics.

“When Benny approached me to write this series, I instantly fell in love with the concept. Both as a person and as an actress, I connect with the character,” commented Lee. “Women take on many roles in the course of their lives — mother, worker, boss, lover, wife — and juggling those different personas can make you crazy. You feel schizophrenic.”
“Back when I was working as an actress, I noticed that the line between my own personality and that of a character I was playing would sometimes blur. That’s what happens to our character, Artemis, when she tries to be one person during the day and another at night.”
