Early Movers with Big News

The following companies released some sort of news late yesterday evening or early this morning:

Euro Tech Holding Company (Nasdaq: CLWT) shares rose 35 cents, about 14 percent, to $2.78 in early Monday trading. Today the company announced its associated company, Zhejiang Tianlan Desulfurization and Dust-Removal Co., has recently been awarded four contracts worth an aggregate $7.3 million. The contracts with various Chinese companies are for the design, manufacture, supply, and commissioning of desulfurization equipment.

CT Holdings Enterprises (OTCBB: CTHE) announced this morning it has finalized a definitive merger agreement with respect to a reverse triangular merger between Xcorporeal and CT Holdings. According to the press release, medical device developer Xcorporeal will emerge as the leading company to market a hospital congestive heart failure (CHF) device, a hospital renal replacement device, a portable hemodialysis device, and a wearable artificial kidney. In response to the news, shares of CT Holdings were up 60 cent, nearly 156 percent, to $1.15 Monday morning.

Credence Systems Corp. (Nasdaq: CMOS) shares rose 37 cents this morning, up 16 percent to $2.64. The activity follows this morning’s news that the company has named Amir Aghdaei as senior vice president of field operations and marketing. In a statement, the company said Aghdaei will assist the company in increasing its presence in marketing segments including Japan and Taiwan. Credence provides test solutions from design through production for the global semiconductor industry.

ERF Wireless (OTCBB: ERFW) shares climbed 6 cents, or 9 percent, to 71 cents this morning, following the company’s released of its second-quarter financials. ERF Wireless reported a 526 percent interest in total net sales, rising to $2.4 million from $387,000 reported in 2006. The company attributed the rise to progress on its El Dorado Golf and Beach Club project in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico.
