Every public company loves to put out good news and see the reflection in its stock price. The following three companies released positive news of some kind either this morning or late yesterday and have seen their stock prices soar so far today.Shares of Inovio Biomedical Corp. (AMEX: INO) were up 39 cents, or 17 percent, to $2.59 on volume of 352,000 this morning on word of the company’s presentation of its DNA vaccines for cancers and infectious diseases including malaria, HIV and hepatitis C. The company’s developments were presented at the 10th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Gene Therapy (ASGT).
American Oil and Gas Inc. (AMEX: AEZ) were up 33 cents, or nearly 6 percent, to $5.95 on volume of 473,600 this morning. Yesterday the company announced its participation in an online investor conference covering the oil and gas sector. American Energy acquires and develops oil and gas assets with interests in the Yasin Concession in Pakistan and in an oil and gas lease in Galveston County, Texas.
Astris Energi Inc. (OTCBB: ASRNF) shares rose 1 cent, or 45 percent, to 3 cents on volume of 208,000 this morning, after announcing it has secured a binding asset purchase agreement with MKU Canada Inc. The transaction includes the sale of all Astris Energy assets, including its fuel cell and test load technology assets, for consideration of roughly $3.1 million in cash, forgiveness of $1.6 million of secured convertible debentures held by ACME Global Inc. including accrued interest of $175,090, plus a secured convertible promissory note funding commitment with a minimum of $150,000 per month to finance operations.
