As a leading intellectual-property licensing company based out of Carlsbad, CA, Patriot Scientific Corporation engages in development and marketing, and supports innovative technologies that satisfy the demands of emerging markets for wireless devices, smart cards, home appliances, network gateways, entertainment technology, biomedical devices, and industrial controllers. Their key priority is to serve the world’s industries through scientific innovation. Most of their focus is set on utilizing their resources to invest in discovering and licensing technologies that possess the potential to produce breakthrough solutions and advanced technology.

A joint venture between Patriot Scientific and The TPL Group was established in 2005, which unified both parties’ interests in a portfolio of fundamental microprocessor patents that are in the middle of a global $200 billion microprocessor end-use market. Both companies own 50% of the joint venture and share in the proceeds of licensing activities, as distributed by the joint venture pursuant to the agreements. Alliacense, a TPL Group entity, is solely responsible for the commercialization and licensing of the unified patent portfolio.

Marketed as MMP, or the Moore Microprocessor Patent, this specific portfolio contains intellectual property that is jointly owned by both companies. Within the portfolio are several U.S. patents as well as their European and Japanese counterparts. Both Patriot Scientific and the TPL Group maintain that their jointly owned patents protect techniques used in designing microprocessors, microcontrollers, digital signal processors (DSP’s), embedded processors, and system-on-chip (SoC) implementations. At least three of the patents are fundamentally crucial to virtually every microprocessor design. Global sales by potential licensees of products applying technologies protected by the jointly owned patents are estimated to be in excess of $200 billion annually.
