For the second day in a row, the Dow Jones Industrial Average plummeted several hundred points as weary investors continue to maintain a pessimistic attitude toward the state of the economy. Contributing to a general feeling of disheartenment was a weak retail sector report for the month of October, reflecting weak sales due to low demand. At its lowest point, the Dow was down nearly 500 points from Wednesday’s close, and extended losses on the week to more than 600 points.
