Dialysis Corporation of America (DCAI) Announces Plans to Expand to Southeast Indiana

Dialysis Corporation of America (DCAI), located in Linthicum, Maryland, announced in September 2007 its plans to expand into southeast Indiana to develop a new center in partnership with a local nephrologist. The center, anticipated to have 12 stations and a capacity of caring for up to 60 end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients, will be initially owned by the physician with the company under contract for management. The company will have the right to purchase controlling interest in the center at a future date.

Dialysis partners with physicians and hospitals to provide the needed balance to consistently deliver high quality care to patients with failed kidney function. The company owns and operates freestanding kidney hemodialysis centers located in Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia, and provides in-hospital dialysis services on a contract basis to certain hospitals located in those states.

Stephen Everett, president and chief executive officer, stated, “The further expansion of our Midwest market is a priority of DCA, with this center in Indiana providing up an ideal entry into the state. Payer mix and physician quality are critically important components of our decision process relating to facility development, and we have found both with this new opportunity.”

The new state-of-the-art center will begin construction soon, with anticipated opening during early 2008.
