Cord Blood America, Inc. (CBAI.OB) Mother Knows Best

When the miracle of life begins in a woman as she becomes pregnant, a myriad of forces start to come into play. In the very beginning, just hours after conception, Complex cellular interactions begin, nervous system networks start out like miniature roadmaps, and literally tens of thousands of chemical processes take place. Life as we know it, once sparked into existence, quickly branches out. Along with the development of all these mind numbing processes, the mother also imparts to her baby, “special” cells, cells we term “stem cells.”

For many, the term Stem Cell is an exercise in confusion. What’s a stem cell? What do they do? Why does anyone care about them? Why does the President get involved with them? The list is long and rightfully so. The media has been woefully inadequate in explaining the true basics of the common forms of stem cells. See there’s more than just one type, and that is often the very cause of the confusion.

In a simplified explanation, stem cells are like modeling clay. They aren’t “anything” until they are needed to be something. Just like a lump of clay isn’t a sculpture, it’s a pile of clay. Not until molded and caressed into shape, does it become something useful. A stem cell is the same way. It’s a hollow form, ready to be anything the underlying genius of the gene pattern says it needs. Some will become liver cells, and others will be optic nerve cells. Where ever there is a need, the stem cell stands ready to become that needed “part”.

So, why would there be so much controversy over a cell? Well, science has proven that in people with debilitating diseases such as Leukemia, sarcoma’s, anemia’s, and over 100 other deadly diseases can be helped, if not outright cured, by the use of stem cells. But simply put, some stem cells only come from embryo donors. That’s what one reads about in the newspapers as they fight over the morality of using embryos to produce them.

The knowledge shortfall however, is that the human mother produces stem cells from other areas of blood flow. Bone marrow for instance produces mesenchymal stem cells, known to successfully treat certain types of organ damage. Certainly there is no controversy over bone marrow. Well, the same can be said for Umbilical cord blood. The very blood that is destined for the medical waste bin, is full of a particular stem cell that is similar to embryonic stem cells, and is also known to help treat certain diseases. As Research discovers more and more abilities of these cells in the cure of certain diseases, possibilities are endless and the list grows constantly. And knowing how fast this field of research is evolving the actual capabilities of these cells can only be estimated.

This is where Cord Blood America shines as a particularly interesting investment opportunity. Cord Blood, through its subsidiary division CorCell, is a leader in the collection and storage of cord cell blood. Considering that terms such as “stem cell” didn’t even exist in the public vernacular just 10 years ago, it’s astounding that Cord Blood has just recently announced that their 9 month revenues were up some 121%. Yet it’s not just increasing revenues that should be noted in the favorable column for CBAI. They’ve also been diligent about retiring debt, and growing through strategic acquisitions, allowing more base cord samples to be gathered.

Every parent wishes to send their children off with all the best they can give them. That desire has been with us since time began. Now parents have a “gift” that they can give their child that far surpasses the graduation gift. The gift of their own healthy blood and stem cells, properly collected from birth and properly stored. In the event of a life tragedy, these cells very well could be the cure or regeneration of a damaged body part. Could there be any greater heirloom a parent could give?

Cord Blood America gives parents that ability, and as science learns more about the abilities of these cells, more and more illness will be conquered. Investors interested in being part of a company that is already a leader in this new technology, need to look closely at Cord Blood. As the public learns the differences in stem cell technologies, they’ll learn that there are no moral barriers to Cord blood, and that Cord Blood America is the leading company in the processing of it. That equates to a rising demand, and every investor knows, demand for a product is “good”.
