Cord Blood America (CBAI.OB) – Recent Study Concluded that Many Patients with Blood Disorders were Cured with Stems Cells from Their Cord Blood

Data released in a recent American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplantation (ASBMT) annual meeting showed that related Cord Blood does make a difference in curing blood disorders. Many people including “ACOG”, The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists believe that genetically related blood made no difference in cure rate. This report however refutes many claims against storing one’s own blood for future use; this is huge for Cord Blood America.

The study gave insight to the use of one’s own or related cord blood to cure environmentally triggered blood complications or hereditary blood disorders. Not only does the use of related blood cure these disorders, but it also reduces the risk of rejection from the body.

The Study was conducted on sixteen patents, four of which were infused with their own blood, the other twelve with blood from siblings. Two-Thirds of the children were cured and the others died from unrelated complications. This is huge for private blood storage as it demonstrates the enormous advantage of storing one’s own cord blood. Other studies have also demonstrated the many reasons for parents to have their babies cord blood stored privately as well.

Dr. Jennifer Willert, a senior transplant doctor at Ray’s Children’s Hospital commented, “This study is relevant to any expectant parent considering whether or not to privately bank cord blood stem cells. Individuals who have access to their own cord blood stem cells, as well as a sibling’s, have the best chance of treating a blood disorder that develops. For expectant parents who already have a family member with a diagnosed blood disorder that can be treated by cord blood stem cells, it’s important to know that there are free cord blood banking programs available – known as related donor or designated transplant programs – that provide immediate access to the genetically-related stem cells.”

Through its companies, Cord Blood provides Cord and Placenta blood preservation. They are also actively involved in educating expectant parents and families with a history of severe illnesses. The three companies they operate through are CorCell, Cord Partners Blood Banking and their educational advertising company, Rainmakers Int.
