Columbia Clean Power & Fuels Inc. (CCPF.OB) Names New President for Its Columbian Operations

Columbia Clean Power & Fuels Inc. is a company with coal operations in the Republic of Columbia, the world’s tenth largest producer and fourth largest exporter of coal. Columbia has an estimated 7 billion metric tons recoverable reserves and 17 billion metric tons of potential reserves.

The company plans to build mines to produce both metallurgical coal, used in making steel, and thermal coal, which is used to fire power plants. It has retained engineering and geological service firms in the US and Columbia to conduct exploration activities in areas under consideration for acquisition by the company. CCPF also has plans to implement advanced coal technologies, such as coal gasification and coal-to-liquids, to produce clean energy solutions.

Columbia Clean Power & Fuels today announced that it has named industry veteran Carlos J. Soto as president of its wholly-owned Columbian subsidiary, Energia Andina Santander Resources. Mr. Soto is a senior level mining and metallurgy engineer who brings with him a wealth of industry expertise and professional relationships from his 30 years of experience in the Columbian and global coal mining industries.

Previously, Mr. Soto had a long tenure with Carbones de Cerrejon Limited, the largest mining operation in Columbia. During his 29 years at this company, he held various key positions in engineering, mine planning, finance, business planning, operations research and coal marketing. Mr. Soto also was involved in the development of special projects focused on electricity, natural gas and coal.

CCPF is pleased to have such a key figure in the Columbian coal industry join its management team. This should be vital to the company at its early stage of development as it advances toward commercial operations.
