Obesity is a leading risk factor behind many cardiovascular diseases, cancers and type 2 diabetes. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in the past 20 years there has been a dramatic increase in obesity. Though public awareness has prompted more Americans to hit the gym and lead healthier lifestyles, calories and fat in beverages such as juices, energy and soft drinks are often overlooked, subtly contributing to weight-gain and health issues.
Celsius Holdings Inc. has developed an original drink to generate the opposite effect. The company’s Celsius® calorie burning beverage has been scientifically proven to burn approximately 100 calories per can through boosting metabolism and providing sustained energy over a three-hour period.
The company today announced increased availability of Celsius, as the product is available at approximately 1,800 SUPRERVALU stores.
“We are thrilled to be carried by SUPERVALU, a leading grocery retailer with unsurpassed recognition in the industry. As we expand our brand nationally, it is wonderful to be a part of the SUPERVALU family through their great network of stores such as Shaw’s, Albertsons, Jewel-Osco, Acme, Farm Fresh and others,” Kelly Michols, Celsius’ vice president of Strategic Sales stated in the press release.
In addition to burning calories, the company said that studies have shown that consuming one Celsius before a workout may enhance the benefits of regular exercise, endurance and body composition.
Celsius is sugar and preservative-free, and contains no high fructose corn syrup, no aspartame or other artificial flavors, and has very low sodium. The active ingredients include MetaPlus(TM), that includes green tea with EGCG, ginger, caffeine, calcium, chromium, B vitamins and vitamin C.
SUPERVALU stores offer Celsius in three flavors: Orange and Wild Berry; Green Tea Raspberry Acai; and Green Tea Peach Mango. The drinks are available in single or four packs, and are marketed in the diet section of the stores.
