CDC Corp. (CHINA) is “One to Watch”

CDC Corporation, headquartered in Causeway Bay, Hong Kong, operates through its five companies to provide enterprise software, IT consulting services, business services, Internet access and peripheral services, mobile services and applications, and online games. Originally established as China.com in 1995, the company obtained NASDAQ listing in 1999 and changed its name to CDC Corporation to identify its increasingly diversified and global enterprise. Today, the company operates in 14 countries with a staff of 1,800, to operate a wholly or partially owned group of businesses that operate in the core areas of: enterprise application software; IT consulting and services; and mobile value-added services and Internet media services.

The enterprise software companies owned by CDC consist of Ross Systems, Inc., Pivotal Corporation, and IMI, and provide such services as enterprise resource planning, customer relationship management (CRM), supply chain management, order management systems, human resources and payroll management, and business intelligence products.

IT consulting and business services are provided by wholly-owned Ion Global, as well as Pacific Connection and Software Galeria subsidiaries in Asia, Australia and N. America, and include information technology services, eBusiness consulting, Web development and outsourcing, and marketing support services via a database.

Internet access and peripheral services are provided in China under the auspices of the company’s 81-percent owned subsidiary, China.com. The other portal is provided by Hongkong.com, and these two offer a variety of services and content, from marketing platforms for business partners, advertisers and online marketers, to e-mail, dating, search services, yellow pages information, e-business links, news and information and beauty and lifestyle tips to individual subscribers.

Mobile services provides news and applications services like wireless access, multimedia messaging capabilities, interactive voice response and wireless application protocols for the Chinese consumer. Gaming software development takes place in China, and involves massive multiplayer online role playing games and massive multiplayer online games which allow thousands of users to interact with one another in a virtual world. These games are available in North America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Asia Pacific region.
