Cavico Corp. (CAVO.OB) Signs $16 Million Contract for Tunnel Construction at Vietnamese Hydropower Plant

Cavico Corporation is a leading infrastructure development and natural resources conglomerate based in Vietnam. The company works on projects which include the construction of roads, bridges, tunnels, dams, hydropower facilities, buildings, cement plants and mines in Vietnam.

Cavico announced today that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Cavico Transport Construction JSC and its joint venture partners – General Construction and Infrastructure Development Company and Song Da Corporation – have signed a construction package with Dakdrinh Hydropower Company.

Cavico Transport will construct a 7.5 kilometers long and 4.5 meters wide water tunnel and also tunnel sections, numbers 3, 4 and 5. Cavico’s portion of this project is $16 million with the construction expected to be completed within 60 months. The $212 million project is being funded by the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam and PetrolVietnam JoinStock Finance Corporation.

Cavico Transport recently signed two other separate contracts with Dakdrinh Hydropower for phases I and II of the Dakdrinh hydropower plant project to extract, process and transport stones. This new project will increase the total contracted revenue from Dakdrinh-related projects to $29.4 million for Cavico.

Tran Thanh Hai, vice-president of Cavico, stated, “Cavico is very pleased to work alongside its partners Licogi and Song Da Corporation, two large established construction companies with solid hydropower construction reputation. This cooperation shows that Cavico Transport has earned the trust and recognition as one of Vietnam’s leading construction companies.”
