Career Education yesterday announced that, effective immediately, Scott Steffey is the company’s new president and CEO. Steffey is described by CEC as a “veteran education and business leader” whose “career includes leadership roles spanning the education spectrum as well as senior posts at both publicly- and privately-held businesses,” serving as CEO of Strayer Education and Vice Chancellor of the State University of New York.
Career Education is focused on providing education through 90 campuses with both a physical and online presence and a global student population of over 75,000. Campuses are located in the U.S. and the U.K. as well as France and Monaco. CEC offers doctoral, master’s, bachelor’s, and associate degrees as well as diploma and certificate programs.
While Steffey was working as the senior operating officer at SUNY, the school was the largest non-profit, unified system of postsecondary education in the United States, comprised of 64 degree-granting campuses, with 400,000 students, several vocational centers, and 75,000 faculty and administrators. While COO at Strayer, Steffey drove operational efficiency as well as innovation in online education and an increase in enrollment.
Steffey said, “The INSEEC Group and International University of Monaco (IUM) are known for their academic excellence and attract students from around the world. We must continue to foster INSEEC and the quality education programs that have distinguished them in Europe. I look forward to working with and supporting Catherine and her efforts to continue delivering high academic programs throughout Western Europe.”
