Carbon Sciences Inc. (CABN) to Benefit from US Government Focus on Alternative Fuel Technologies to Bolster Energy Infrastructure

Carbon Sciences, Inc., the developer of a breakthrough technology to make transportation fuels from natural gas and carbon dioxide (CO2), today announced its support for the newly announced policy of the U.S. Department of Energy to direct more of its research and development funding to alternative fuel technologies. In a report issued on September 27, 2011, the Department of Energy stated that it recognizes the need to focus on the development of alternative fuels in order to improve U.S. competitiveness in global markets, reduce U.S. dependence on foreign oil, increase the reliability of energy infrastructure and reduce risks from climate change.

Carbon Science will benefit from this new dedication to alternative fuels. Its technology can help nations reduce their dependence on petroleum by cost-effectively producing a cleaner and greener liquid fuel that can be used for cars, trucks, trains and planes without a massive overhaul of the existing transportation infrastructure. The key to Carbon Sciences’ success is a methane dry reforming catalyst that consumes carbon dioxide in a cost-effective process.

“We commend the Department of Energy for recognizing the importance of the fuel security issue,” said Byron Elton, CEO of Carbon Sciences, in a press release. “Specifically, the department’s focus on alternative fuel technologies shows a real commitment to freeing the United States from its unsustainable and dangerous dependence on foreign oil. Carbon Sciences has been working toward this goal for some time, and has developed a technology that will address the issues that the DOE is seeking to resolve. Our company, as well as the alternative fuel technology industry, will benefit from the department’s shift in focus.”
