The company announced today that it sold six additional C65 microturbines to a prominent natural gas producer whose current fleet of 49 Capstone microturbines has exceeded one million run time hours. This particular natural gas project is the longest running project using Capstone microturbines for Pumps & Service.
The six additional microturbines will expand the producer’s mini-grid system in New Mexico’s San Juan basin. The new microturbines will be installed in June and will be part of generation system that provides power to pumping and water transfer units at remote sites via a complex underground electrical system.
Capstone microturbines allow the gas producer to pump water from tanks at each remote well site to a central water disposal facility, where the water is then returned to the ground. This eliminates the need for water hauling by trucks which is very expensive. In addition, the Capstone microturbines are a much greener alternative for the gas producer. That gas producing company has replaced high-emission, high-maintenance pump-jack engines at their well sites with Capstone’s low-emission, low-maintenance microturbines.
