Budget Waste Inc. (PINKSHEETS: BDGW) today announced that senior management recently had the opportunity to speak with Alberta Premier Ed Stelmach. Premier Stelmach was sworn in on December 14, 2006 and since that time has made his environmental views well known, including Alberta’s commitment to leave a healthy environment for future generations. Premier Stelmach met with Canada’s Prime Minister Stephen Harper in early march; the outcome of that meeting was a commitment by the Government of Canada to provide Alberta with $155.9 million to facilitate real reductions in air pollutants.
Budget Waste shares this environmental perspective with Premier Stelmach and is pleased with the positive leadership shown by the province and the Canadian government in regard to recycling and decreasing overall landfilling of waste. In recent months BWI has undertaken several initiatives to step up the positive environmental impact that a company with commitment and determination can have on providing a healthy environment.
After a conversation with Premier Stelmach, Jim Can, President and CEO for BWI, states, “We are very pleased with the leadership and direction the Premier is showing in the environmental stewardship area. I see many synergies developing in North America and now with the commitment the Alberta government is displaying I feel we are positioned perfectly to take on the challenges ahead and continue as leaders in the environmental services sector.”
