Brigus Gold has really been pulling out all the stops in recent years, subsequently gaining attention as a rapidly growing mid-tier Canadian gold producer and the company shows no signs of slowing down today, as word comes in that the most recent exploration drilling on the Grey Fox property in one of the three primary zones, the newly discovered Grey Fox South zone (GFS – the 147 and Contact zones are the others), has yielded some superb, additional high-grade results.
Senior VP of Exploration for BRD, Howard Bird, emphasized the quality of the findings and the current dedication of three rigs to the job of systematically drilling the Grey Fox property, with a keen eye on the Grey Fox South. In fact, the ongoing drill program is tasked broadly with expanding the size of these three, heavily mineralized zones and it is noteworthy that all three zones still remain open for further expansion.
Bird pointed to a forthcoming updated independent NI 43-101 (expected later this month) and assured markets that the new discovery reported today in the GFS zone, which was itself only discovered last year during fleshing-out of the 147 and Contact zones at Grey Fox, roundly confirms the potential for this new zone to add substantially to BRD’s known gold resource. The Grey Fox property is an extremely strong chunk of BRD’s overall acreage footprint now, a footprint which also contains the 100%-owned Goldfields Project (Box and Athona deposits) up in northwestern Saskatchewan (some 8.7k acres between the Black Fox Mill/Mine), as well as some exciting options via interests in the Dominican Republic (Ampliación Pueblo Viejo II, Ponton, and La Cueva concessions) and Mexico (Ixhuatán Project in Chiapas).
Looking at the assays in today’s report (capped at 100 g/t with average grades over core length widths), we have a series of obviously strong hits, with concentrations as high as 17.21 g/t over 37 feet (hole GF12-631) and looking at near-surface data like that out of hole GF12-625, which shows 2.05 g/t over 282 feet starting at just 69 feet down (including 10.78 g/t over 16 feet and 4.43 g/t over 59 feet), the characteristics of the deposit are unmistakably clear. Brigus oversaw trusted ally Norex Drilling for the meat of the drilling work and had established assay firm, Polymet Labs (ISO 9001:2000 certified in North America using standard fire assay), over in Ontario do the sample analysis. NI 43-101 Qualified Person was Senior Exploration Project Manager, John A. Dixon (P. Geo), who also vetted today’s report and BRD inserted their usual quality control blanks, duplicates, and standards to validate the accuracy of lab results. While it is important to understand that the reported intercepts do not represents truth widths (unless noted), the data speaks for itself and it is now quite clear to investors that last year’s explorative work on Grey Fox has really panned out nicely.
