BioShaft Water Technology Inc. (BSHF.OB) is “One to Watch”

BioShaft Water Technology Incorporated is a developmental stage company that designs and manufactures sewage treatment plans using their patented Hans Bioshaft system. Plants that use BioShaft Water Technologies services have many advantages over traditional sewage treatment facilities, including lower cost, minimal sludge, minimal odor and a smaller environmental footprint. BioShaft’s uniquely designed sewage treatment plants work by both emulating and accelerating a natural process found in rivers.

The company is currently engaged in a specific branch of waste water treatment known as domestic waste or sewage treatment, but in the future, BioShaft also plans to expand into the treatment of industrial waste. They are currently working on the implementation of their pilot project in Southern California, where they aim to set up and operate a packaged unit in order to complete the municipal permitting process for the California commission on environmental quality.

They have a specific set of goals that will be used as guidance to take the company through 2009. The first goal for BioShaft is to penetrate the waste water treatment industry worldwide by stressing the cost advantages and space saving capabilities of the Hans BioShaft system. Next, the company plans to build a network of strategic alliances with several types of companies, including contractors that specialize in the construction of water treatment plants, engineering firms that work with municipalities, and firms that specialize in “build own operate” project utilities, in addition to forming a partnership with a Chinese manufacturer to whom they can outsource the fabrication of up to 2 Hans BioShaft units per month.

The company is still in the early stages of development and is well positioned in their market. According to the Environmental Protection Agency’s own numbers, annual sewer overflows are staggering; they estimate that 850 billion gallons of raw or partially treated sewage is discharged annually into local waters. For separate sanitary sewer systems, the EPA estimates that between 23,000 and 75,000 sanitary sewage overflows occur per year in the United States, which gives BioShaft a strong domestic market in which to operate.
