Big Bear Mining Corp., a U.S.-based exploration and development company, focusing on the acquisition and development of gold and other precious commodity projects that demonstrate high probability for near-term production, recently announced the acquisition of a new group of claims in the Birch/Uchi portion of the Red Lake Mining Division.
Located in Honeywell and McNaughton Township, the group of nine claims is situated on a total of 4,104 acres. According to the Ontario Geological Survey Open File Report 5835, this group is host to the Sol d’or Mine, which experienced limited production between 1932 to 1937 at which time 560.07 tons of ore were processed for a total of 258 ounces of gold and 33 ounces of silver. Multiple quartz veins and a silicified shear zone make this property an excellent exploration target utilizing today’s modern mining methods.
Steve Rix, president of Big Bear Mining Corp., stated, “We are excited to acquire additional properties in the Red Lake District and look forward to commencing exploration soon. We constantly want to remind our shareholders and the general public that this is just one of many pieces to the puzzle.” Mr. Rix continued, “This acquisition is in line with our strategy of identifying, acquiring and exploring strategic high value properties and developing new prospective projects throughout North America.”
