Universal Detection Technology (UDTT.OB) is focused on developing monitoring technology and bio-terrorism detection devices to trace anthrax and aerosolized bacterial spores. The Company has developed its anthrax monitor in collaboration with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which advantageously combines the Company’s aerosol capture technology with the Laboratory’s spore detection technology.
The September 11 attacks and anthrax mailings have increased the concern of public safety and have subsequently produced a sense of urgency in public health systems around the globe. The sales of bio-terrorism prevention equipment are expected to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate of 41% to 1.9 billion in 2009; a substantial increase from the $345 million in sales reported in 2003.
Universal Detection Technology believes in collaborating with reputable universities for research and development of bioterrorism detection devices. This approach leads to reduced R&D costs and increases the quality of the products developed. The Company has established partnerships with researchers to guarantee that the devices developed by the Company are commercially viable for the detection of bio-terrorism.
