In a move that effectively creates the largest brewing company the world has ever known, shareholders of Anheuser-Busch approved a $52 billion sale to Belgium-based InBev SA. President and CEO of what is now formerly America’s biggest brewer, August A. Busch IV said that it was a difficult, yet ultimately necessary decision to make: “Every alternative was considered…In the end, we all agreed the InBev proposal was in the best interest of you, the shareholders.” The deal is expected to close by year’s-end.
