MedCAREERS Group is pleased to announce that its wholly owned subsidiary, Nurses Lounge, Inc., will be releasing a free iPhone and iPad app in April, with an Android app to be launched in weeks following.
The app is designed to make it easy for nurses to maintain communications with all the professional organizations that they belong to. It also provides a communication platform for nurses to hear about job openings, special events, and classes.
“We’re excited to offer an app for our service. It’s something students have been asking for since joining Nurses Lounge,” said Tim Armes, president and CEO of MedCAREERS and founder of Nurses Lounge. “With this app, a student nurse association can do away with posting meetings on bulletin boards around campus and potentially contact the entire nursing student body about a meeting taking place in just an hour or two with just a few clicks.”
With a few keystrokes, a nursing school can set up a Lounge page and invite students, alumni, and faculty with a “join” link that can be emailed by the school’s dean. Recipients are automatically placed in the school’s lounge once they create a profile and register. Then, new members can create professional networks with fellow students and alumni, as well as join other interactive lounges created by various organizations. What’s more, whenever information is posted, members receive instant email alerts or notification via the app on their phone.
Of the network and app’s benefits, Ames commented, “A major side benefit is that it helps the nursing school build and maintain an alumni organization. Once a student connects to the school and builds a professional network with other students and alumni, they are likely to stay connected to the school for years to come.”
