Hoping to access some of the possible $81 billion in medical cost savings associated with electronically storing and accessing patient medical records, MedeFile International Inc. said today that it is very pleased with the stated medical cost savings positions of all candidates running for the United States Presidency. The company was particularly pleased with Senator Barac Obamas’ statements indicating that he would pledge to allocate $10 billion per year for five years toward the effort.
The company’s proprietary MedFile product is specifically designed to take advantage of the opportunities presented by a committed governmental effort toward reducing medical costs but has run up against a lethargic medical establishment. MedeFile International is pleased that private concerns, such as Intel Corp. and Wal-Mart, have moved past this lethargy and begun moving toward funding development of products directed toward a product that serves 100% of patients needs in a realistic way.
The company indicates that its product is fully capable of meeting needs globally with its PC based system. Able to be carried on a keychain, the device can access patient data in a secure environment across the internet. Unfortunately, the medical establishment has been dragging its heels toward meeting the current administrations goal of electronically storing patient data by 2011. Generally, this lack of interest by the establishment is thought to be due to loss of income potential.
The future of electronically storing and accessing medical records is at a crossroads in the company’s eyes. The government has pledged its support but faces a concerted lobbying effort from the medical establishment. Private companies working to reduce these same medical costs are taking on the same task as an act of maximizing profit potential. In the middle is MedeFile with a product that is positioned but in need of fuel. In either case, public or private, MedFile International is ready to work with whomever is ready to step forward.
