BIO-key International, Inc. (BKYI) announced $245,000 in software and service orders for the third quarter. About half of the orders for the company’s finger-based biometric identification software were from new customers and users, including many law enforcement agencies. That included 11 new agency orders that came through channel partners, Independence Communications and InterAct Public Safety.
Calling the recent activity a “strong new order demand”, BIO-key senior vice president Ken Souza said it could be attributed to enhancements in their mobile data product portfolio. The latest is the just released MobileCop 7.0 that includes RollCall featuring collaborative; almost live “wiki” technology allowing inter-agency information exchanges during patrol assignments, stakeouts or “be on the lookout” alerts.
“By using RollCall, officers are no longer required to drive to the station at the beginning of the shift — or at other times — to obtain inter-agency information,” a company news release states.
Message Center is another feature of MobileCop 7.0 that shows text messages, e-mail and RSS feeds with one click on one screen. “Our customers are looking for ways in which they can increase productivity and lower operational costs and our solutions deliver on both counts,” Souza said.
