It’s In The Battery

February 25, 2008, HYBR as one of the foremost leaders in the development and marketing of lithium-powered products worldwide, announced a successful move toward development of a new cathode material which will be incorporated to a Lithium Ion Polymer Battery that significantly increases operating voltage range and energy density.

The company’s new Lithium Ion Polymer battery results in a “Superlattice Structure,” allowing electric vehicles to be driven over 200 miles compared to the current 120 to 140 mile range The technology allows vehicles to operate at a wide voltage range of 2 to 4.3V. The pure material of the Superlattice Structure is produced in-house and synthesized at an industrial scale.

Dr. Surajit Sengupta, Director of Battery R&D at Hybrid Technologies, states, “Our objective is to create the Next Generation of lithium ion polymer battery that is environmentally non-toxic, safe, less expensive and more powerful.”

The high speed zero-emission technology, powered by Next Generation Lithium Science, now enters the consumer market in Hybrid’s newest LiV™ series of vehicles that will be featured during the 2008 New York International Auto Show.

HYBR evolved development of its units with the introduction of a long range, high torque system designed to out perform similar units currently in use in all terrain vehicles (ATVs). Both the Space Agency and the US NAVY applications of the HYBR models have produced public record. The high speed all terrain vehicles (ATVs) are currently in use at NASA Kennedy Space Center.

Holly Roseberry, President of Hybrid Technologies, Inc., stated, “As we expand our product line to include specific applications developed for the Federal Government we also gain a tremendous market opportunity as our technology has surpassed normal BAA or RFP requirements.”

Real-World Tested Technology

The science behind the Hybrid Technologies vehicles is already on the market and being used across the globe. Lithium Ion technology is the basis for cell phone, MP3 player, laptop, and other portable electronic device batteries. Recently. This widespread adoption is due to the lithium battery’s ability to provide high output with low density, the perfect combination for a portable energy source. Because of the lengthy and extensive use of lithium batteries in portable electronic devices across the world, the stability, reliability and safety of lithium batteries are well attested under a wide range of conditions.
