Material Technologies (MATECH) announced this morning that it has inspected a Fracture Critical Bridge in West Sacramento, California using their patented Electrochemical Fatigue Sensor (EFS) System. The results of the inspection are currently being used to decide if existing cracks are growing, if there are other locations which contain cracks without previous documentation, and if the repairs and retrofits installed are working properly.
The inspection was completed before a dozen CalTrans representatives on December 12, 2007. Most importantly, the results will be presented to officials who may decide to further use Material Technologies’ EFS across the state of California. The information provided by the device is crucial in prioritizing repair funds and confirming the efficacy of repairs made.
CEO Robert M. Bernstein stated, “MATECH continues to provide DOT’s (state departments of transportation) with invaluable information never available before. More and more DOT’s are becoming familiar with the technology and requesting inspections. They are using the inspection results to make better bridge management decisions.”
