Session Initiation Protocol is vital to the VoIP market. Businesses are beginning to adopt VoIP — and small and medium enterprises are now converting in droves. Large businesses with full IT staffs have been using VoIP for a couple of years but now that it can be managed without an IT staff, small and medium business are clamoring for VoIP.

SIP is the protocol being adopted by ALL vendors of internet telephony handsets … and handset oversimplifies the combined devices companies can acquire with VoIP.

When personal computers became commodities, the profit margin became razor-thin for manufacturers; internet protocol telephony handsets are expected to follow a similar path.
IP handsets in offices have advanced features such as color touchscreens and configurable buttons, and can be very expensive for one unit with an office requiring many of these units.
IP telephony vendors have been able to command premium prices for these units by tying features to the back-end server that replaces the office PABX.
Historically, a vendor’s high end IP telephony system with multiple features must be purchased from the vendor and when purchased in multiple units the cost can be prohibitive.
As the industry moves to widespread adoption of the SIP — Session Initiation Protocol networking — standard purchasers can buy components from various vendors and create a cost effective desk system which meets their needs.
Just as white-box PC manufacturers grabbed a share of the computer market, so will generic IP telephone handsets make inroads into corporate technology infrastructure.
This is not just a low-cost phone, its a complex unit that is really four or five devices in one, that can handle voice, data and processing.
All vendors are now committed to the SIP.
These business networks are a prime target for different types of attacks. IP telephony enabled networks are complex. The potential targets and vulnerabilities are numerous and so are the different types of attacks that might be utilized.
The objective of Secure Voice developing technology is to detect a subset of these attacks, known as flood attacks. These are classified as DoS attacks and builds upon the idea of sending data from one or several attackers at a higher rate than the target can process the received data. This will prohibit voice systems from being able to maintain the intended service level. The importance of this kind of product to the market is obvious, knowing the availability demands put on the telephony services of today. Secure Voice’s approach is unique and the Company will be pursuing a patent for this unique technology.
With all vendors committed to SIP ,Secure Voice’s ability to protect a system for a small to medium enterprise with no IT staff is crucial.
Secure Voice will focus on technologies that it feels have added value to current market-proven technologies, effectively reducing the risk inherent in research and design efforts.
Currently its primary focus will be on developing and readying for market a SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) based approach to defending voice traffic and voice packets against deliberate attacks such as DoS (Denial of Service).
