Smart Ventures, Inc. specializes in innovative steel production, as well as development and adaptation of new integrated technological systems. Through the acquisition of Metal Assets S.A., Smart Ventures will own the rights to the patents on Smart Steel® Process (SSP) and other technologies, in addition to equity interests in two steel rolling plants.
SSP, designed by TESO Engineering company, is based on a high level of mechanization, robotization and automation of metallurgical and auxiliary processes controlled by smart ACS. The major advantages offered by this technology include a short period of plant construction, high labor efficiency, low requirements for infrastructure and raw materials, and relatively insignificant environmental impact.
Smart Ventures plans to use SSP technology to establish multiple steel production plants, with build time for the smart-mills estimated at only 18-20 months. Each plant will be geographically located in the center of an area with adequate scrap metal supplies to keep transportation costs at an absolute minimum. Employing the most efficient processing methods and the latest in automation technology will further improve profit margins.
The first production facility is already under construction in Surovikino in the Russian Federation. The equipment has been ordered and is currently being fabricated as well.
