Two Words Describe Assured Pharmacy’s Raison D’etre (Reason for Existence): CHRONIC PAIN

Chronic Pain may well be two of the scariest words in the English language and unless you or a family members suffers from CHRONIC PAIN you may not understand not only the reality of living with chronic pain but the ignominy of dealing with the myriad of pharmaceutical issues associated with CHRONIC PAIN. Chronic pain is known as medicines most enduring foe.

Chronic pain enters a patient into a treatment world that is byzantine and archaic and ultimately devoid of respect for their condition. Assured Pharmacy provides a service which negotiates the difficult regulations and stigma often associated with the treatment for chronic pain.

First: Chronic pain is generally treated with prescription narcotics. Once a patient becomes an habitual user of prescription narcotics, a host of governmental, legal, and industry regulations restrict access to the medication their condition mandates.

Second: Pharmacies and pharmacists are subjected to extensive liability once they dispense narcotics. Their relationships with physicians can become strained and ultimately it is the patient who is in chronic pain that suffers …….. needlessly.

Third: Physicians are suspicious of chronic pain suffers who require narcotics.

Result: Suspicious physicians, pharmacists whose first choice is to avoid the issue all together create a hellish downward spiral for the chronic pain sufferer in their attempt to fill legitimate prescriptions. They are targets of suspicion and at times contempt.

Physicians are supposed to sort out the good (true chronic pain) from the bad (drug addiction without an underlying health malady) and the pharmacist is supposed to determine which prescriptions are legitimate and which have been wholly forged or just altered. This is not an easy job for the pharmacist and the liability that ensues from filling a forged or altered prescription is significant. Consequently, many pharmacies do not dispense narcotic pain medication or do not dispense it timely — and a swift filling of a prescription is crucial for a patient in chronic pain. To further exacerbate the difficult situation narcotic prescriptions MUST BE REFILLED by law every thirty days.

The bottom line is the strict scrutiny which accompanies narcotic prescriptions is that it is the patient that suffers when the pharmacist must wait hours and often days for a confirmation of a narcotic prescription from a physician.

Assured Pharmaceutical by specializing in the chronic pain sufferer has developed strong physician relationships which are supported by standard business procedures. This streamlined and professional procedure expedites the confirmation of the prescription and provides the patient with the timely medication they so desperately require.

Assured Pharmaceutical has proven their business model works. Their financials (reflected in their May 30, 2007, Quarterly Report) are an absolute indication of their ability to implement their business model while retaining margins that are above average in the pharmacy industry. Assured Pharmacy’s operating performance continues to establish Assured as an niche pharmacy chain serving customers suffering from chronic pain and supporting the physicians who treat them with established relationships.

This company DOES NOT compete with Wal-Mart! This company fills a void in patient and physician pharmacy needs! Their success is reflected in expanding sales!

Stay tuned to understand why specialized pharmacies appeal to physicians who treat patients with chronic pain.
