Tootie Pie Company bakes and sells high-quality, handmade pies through three basic sales channels: retail, corporate and wholesale. The retail segment serves individual consumers through in-store sales, orders via telephone and internet orders on their website. Their corporate segment serves businesses that purchase their pies as a way to promote their company through customer and employee appreciation programs.
Their pies are shipped to the retail and corporate customers via third party carriers (Fed Ex, UPS) all over the United States. The wholesale segment is made up of regional and national broad-line food service distributors who purchase Tootie Pies and then resell them to the distributors. Tootie Pie Co’s primary distributors are Ben E. Keith Foodservices, Sysco Foodservices, and US Foodservices. These distributors have primarily sold to the central and south Texas markets, although sales are beginning to occur in other markets in Texas and the surrounding states.
As Sysco expands so will the penetration of Tootie Pies! Sysco has initiated construction on two fold-out operations, Sysco Food Services of Knoxville, LLC located in Knoxville, TN and Sysco Food Services of East Texas, LLC located in Longview, TX. The Knoxville operation is expected to be completed during the first quarter of calendar 2008; the East Texas operation during the second quarter of calendar 2008. Sales increased 5.3% to $8.57 billion from $8.14 billion in last year’s third quarter and year to date sales grew by 7.0% to $25.81 billion from $24.12 billion in the same period last year. Sales include restaurants, health care and educational facilities, lodging establishments and other customers who prepare meals away from home.
Ben E. Keith’s food service has a strong Texas presence and is currently in an expansion mode as well with a new facility in West Texas. The food service division serves ten states and the beverage division delivers products to 60 Texas counties. full line of produce, frozen foods, meats, dry groceries, refrigerated foods, paper goods, equipment and supplies to restaurants, hospitals, schools, nursing homes and other institutional businesses. Ben E. Keith is the ninth largest food distributor in the United States.
