StockGuru Blog: Universal Energy – Power Line Construction – Congressional Backing and No End in Sight to Electricity Demand in the U.S.

UVSE: Universal Energy Corp. – Diversifies with Power Line Company

Stock Guru Profile UVSE Universal Energy Corp.

Universal Energy Services, Inc. has recently entered into letters of intent to acquire two energy service companies: Powertown Line Construction and Williston Crane.

PowerTown Line Construction

PowerTown Line Construction provides installation, maintenance and replacement for the power lines used in the transmission and distribution of energy to the end users. Williston Crane LLC is a Florida-based energy services provider. Williston Crane LLC provides heavy equipment used in the maintenance and construction industry. Universal Energy’s growth and diversification strategy is focused on strengthening its corporate structure.

Both of these companies currently provide services associated with Universal’s long-term growth plan and fit well with the increasing demands of the market.

Developing and upgrading existing power lines is a growth industry, and the United States Congress has recently determined that new construction of power lines is of vital interest to the nation. If state authorities do not approve any power line construction after a year, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has the authority to intervene and approve a grid project if the new line is deemed necessary to satisfy national power needs.

This Congressional intervention will keep those power lines humming and guarantee new ones to supply the ever increasing demand for electricity.

Our nation’s continued demand for power is based on industrial growth, population growth and global warming. Global warming increases the demand for air conditioning. NOAA reported that March 2007 was the second warmest March in the 48 contiguous States since record keeping began in 1895. Year-to-date, net generation of electricity was 4.6 percent higher than the same period in 2006.

Most of the nation’s largest power generators have plans to develop new power line projects. Power to the East Coast is of primary importance. Power line project costs can run into the billions of dollars.

Last summer the United States experienced its second-hottest July on record. Total electricity consumption is expected to rise 1.6 percent in 2007 and in 2008 (Total U.S. Electricity Consumption Growth). U.S. residential electricity prices are expected to increase at a rate of 3.0 percent during 2007, a growth rate slightly higher than the 2.2-percent average of the last 10 years (U.S. Residential Electricity Prices and Consumption).

States undergoing market restructuring continue to experience more rapid price increases as rate caps expire and higher fuel costs are passed through to consumers. For example, some customers in Maryland may see rate increases of up to 50 percent starting in June. Average U.S. residential electricity prices are expected to rise by 2.5 percent during 2008.

Universal Energy is developing a diversified focus in our nation’s most critical industry sector: energy! They have demonstrated a propensity for secure investments by drilling in Plaquemines Parish in Lousiana, which is the parish with the highest oil and gas productivity in one of the states with the highest oil and gas productivity rates in the United States. The play in the Oil Sands of Canada is located in one of the most productive regions of the world and with a country known for its political stability.

Now, their entry into the power line business has diversified their energy focus in a sector of the electricity industry, power line construction, which appears to have clear sailing with Congressional backing.
