Hybrid Technologies Inc. (HYBT.OB) company founder Richard Griffiths, recently gave Popular Mechanics a Test Drive in the All – Lithium Cooper Mini. The vehicle tested sported a 78kW electric motor, and can get up to 200 miles on a charge with recharges taking six to eight hours.
Inside, the noticable changes to the Mini interior are that the back seats are gone replaced by the battery.
The lithium-powered Mini features brisk acceleration which drivers will appreciate. The vehicle is exceeding quiet, as there is no engine hum or vibration.
HYBT is negotiating with several automakers to potentially make their lithium-ion powered motor just another powertrain option available through the dealer. Right now, Hybrid also creates electric versions of the Smart Car, Chrysler Crossfire and an assortment of scooters.
