After the bell, VIASPACE announced that two Japanese patents have been licensed from Caltech by one of VIASPACE’S subsidiaries, Direct Methanol Fuel Cell Corporation. Patents from international countries are important, especially patents from Japan and Korea.
The CEO of VIASPACE and the subsidiary, Dr. Carl Kukkonen, stated the importance of the filed patents and how it relates to the strategy of the two companies. To date, the company has licensed approximately 58 patents from Caltech, and has 60 more pending.
