Exploration for base metals has changed quite a bit over the years as testing and history help miners locate and confirm mineral deposits. Although a “strike” is a strike, for the most part the thrill of discovery is almost an underwhelming event for those that would like to personally be in on a find. It is, however, still possible even if it does occur on a piece of paper.
Tombstone Exploration Corp., a mining exploration company, works to discover and exploit base metals in the historically productive Tombstone Arizona mining district. The company is currently in the testing phase of exploration with claims on approximately 13,400 acres of land.
Although the company is currently seeking permits and actual test results for primary mining sites, it has every reason to believe that results will be positive. The region has been historically profitable for the mining of base materials – particularly copper – and is likely to hold more targeted materials such as zinc, iron and silver. The region is also considered a mining district with a long history. Because of this, the company believes permits will be more easily obtained – generally, permit acquisition is a longer process that can slow overall operations in regions that may not have a history with mining. The company’s mining tracts, however, have a long history and a local community familiar with the mining process.
As the company moves forward, test drilling has shown stratifications and initial mineral deposits favorable to mining the company’s targeted metals. Two drill holes have been started with test samples taken at accepted levels during drilling. Assay results are pending but initial conversations with larger companies, interested in the company’s results, have been initiated with solid feedback.
As the commodities markets work to find a stable footing, prices remain at acceptable levels for mining to commence. Prices of the company’s targeted metals have experienced a significant run-up in recent quarters and are likely to stay at or above accepted price targets for the foreseeable future. In any event, these base metals will always have a market to sell into, with Tombstone Exploration ready to capitalize as its operations get underway.
