Turbine Truck Engines, Inc. is an engine manufacturing company that rouses more than a little excitement. It is no secret that we, as a planet, are headed for monumental changes in the way we go about powering vehicles. Fossil fuel costs weigh heavily on the pricing of oil and all other goods. Large transport trucks that supply us with the things we require consume more fuel than any consumer vehicle. Thankfully, Turbine Truck Engines seems to have a double-edged solution to the problem.
The company owns exclusive rights to the manufacturing and marketing of its detonation-cycle gas turbine engine (DCGT), a source of propulsion for heavy-duty trucks that is expected to far outperform traditional engines on several levels. To begin with, the engine has no valves or pistons, eliminating the need for lubrication oils, filters, and fuel pumps. There are astoundingly few moving parts, leading to cooler operating temperatures, and in effect, lessening the need for maintenance.
Perhaps the most desirable feature, though, is the DCGT’s ability to run on almost any fuel, including hydrocarbon, hydrogen, flex, and synthetic types. It burns less fuel overall, and greatly reduces emissions of hazardous greenhouse-gases like nitrogen oxide and carbon monoxide.
Turbine Truck Engines, Inc. holds patents on all of its products, and continues to move toward the successful implementation of the DCGT engine in the real world. Working prototypes have been assembled, and it seems just a short way to the company’s realization of a dream: to change the way we move about our roads, and transport goods. It is a reality for which we are all in desperate need.
